As we enter into the fall months, and the official Oktoberfest celebrations, we thought we would share some of the highlights of our annual Craft Ales Weekend. Sam Calagione, founder and president of Dogfish Head Craft Ales celebrated yet another great weekend with our guests. One highlight from the weekend included a Foraging for Bitters Walk with Sam Calagione and our own Master Herbalist Nathaniel Whitmore. Guests were surprised and delighted to discover some hidden gems of unexpected bottled bitters. Six months prior, Nathaniel and Sam had plotted to make this Bitters Walk one for the memory book. They buried three cases of Craft Ales from Sam’s private collection in three different locations around the property. Guests were able to taste the treasured beers and discover the art of burying beer to help age the beers (mostly in beers with a higher alcohol content) to hone in on some of the unique flavors and ingredients.
The weekend also featured a Beer Pairing Dinner at the Garden with Executive Chef Josh Tomson. An exclusive menu was developed by Chef Josh and Sam Calagione of Dogfish Head Craft Ales. Chef Josh brought the table to the farm and gave guests a tour of the garden. The intimate dinner started with a rainbow and a light rain tapered off just in time for the main course!
Craft Ales Weekend also kicked off our new 2014-2015 beer inspired spa treatment offerings, which include:
