The Lodge at Woodloch knows that there is nothing better than a little (or a lot for that matter) shut-eye. It is good for the mind, body and soul. The Lodge’s new Rest+Well Blueprint helps guests to create better sleep health within their own lifestyle. Good sleep can’t be turned on and off as easily as we would like. It is a multi-billion dollar industry that is becoming bigger, not smaller.
Just like it takes a village to raise a child, we know that it takes more than one approach to develop healthy sleeping habits. We tapped our “village,” our team of experts to share their Rest+Well recommendations in honor of National Sleep Week.
Cindy Wasilewski says “Exercise. Daily.”
Vigorous exercise is always best but any exercise will help. The increase in oxygen, the release of hormones and the stress-relieving mind benefits will all help the body when it is time to drift off to sleep. A few of the unique offerings that are perfect to take advantage of while visiting The Lodge at Woodloch or at your favorite home-town gym are Spinning, Tabata and Cardio Blast.
Cindy also recommends training your brain. Partake in a MindBody activity/class to get tips and tricks to help center your thoughts and breathing to make your way to a dreamful start:
Amanda Clabaugh- “Incorporate a bedtime ritual that helps the body wind down.”
Typically the early morning and late evening are times that many people dedicate to beauty rituals. Why not make those rituals pull double duty…efficient and meaningful. One way to do that is to create a natural post-cleanse “toner” using calming essential oils, powerful fresh herbs and water. Misting something like lavender water lightly after cleansing and before moisturizing helps to calm the senses and moisturize the skin.
Another great bedtime ritual would be to scrap the evening television binge and create time for a hydrating bath (like Amanda’s DIY Hydrating Oatmeal Bath) at the end of the day. Your dry skin will thank you for it and the relaxing ritual is a perfect way to lead you to la-la land.
When visiting The Lodge at Woodloch, experience a few rest-inducing spa treatments:
This relaxing massage focuses on releasing areas of chronic tension, promoting a deep state of relaxation. A “zero gravity” chair suspends the guest and gently rocks while the therapist applies massage to the head, neck and feet, using specially crafted oil blends to ease one into a restful state. 50 minutes
Master Herbalist Nathaniel Whitmore suggests “taking a holistic approach when creating healthy sleep habits.”
Nathaniel’s new one-on-one Holistic Herbal Rest+ Well Personal Consultations help guests to find those healthy benefits. A combination of eating healthy and natural foods that are sleep-inducing, avoiding caffeine, spending time in the outdoors all help the body set its natural clock. Herbs are great resources to help the body lull into a restful state. Nathaniel can help guests explore more well-recognized herbs such as lavender and chamomile as well as lesser-known herbs like Valerian and how they can be incorporated.
Sweet dreams…from The Lodge at Woodloch team
